Notes From the Road
10-10-07 A Friend In Common - The Don Richmond Benefit
It's going to be a very musical fall for me here in Taos. I'm helping with several very cool benefits and they're all listed in the Shows section of the site. The one I want to mention here is for a dear friend who has colon cancer. You've probably heard me talk about Don Richmond a lot over the years. I know Don from Alamosa, Colorado, two hours north of Taos in the "Beautiful Valley" where I lived for several years. Its a place I still love. I've produced several great artists there at Don's Howlin Dog Studio and also recorded lots of demos plus The Other Side and Drink Another Round from my Paradox of Grace CD. Don is also a fixture in the Taos music scene and plays here more often than he does Alamosa, but my friend Ruthie Brown in Alamosa puts it very well when she says (more or less) "He belongs to Alamosa. We just let Taos borrow him once in a while". And we appreciate that and him

Don and his wife, Teri Mcartney have done a s***load of good things for me and so many others and it's payback time for them. To send a donation directly, mail a check made payable to The Don Richmond Fund to:

The Alamosa event that this is inspired by was a huge success and this one should be as well.
Make a trip to Taos....come to the benefit concert Nov 4th, Sunday, from 2 until 10pm at the Sagebrush Inn Conference Center. The finest of the Taos Music scene will each perform 20 to 60 minute sets including live recorded versions of Don Richmond songs...the ten best of those tracks will be picked afterwards for a future CD release. There'll be live and silent auctions, music, dancing, food and drink. Its going to be a spectacle.
I'll be performing two of my favorite Don Richmond tunes: No Borders and Wide Open with various members of the Taos music scene including renowned Taos Pueblo drummer Benito Concha, Jim Bradley, Jimmy Stadler and Jenny Bird
The Amigos Bravos benefit is going to be a big shindig to celebrate the Revolution Records release of "Songs of New Mexico"... a CD featuring folks like myself and Don Richmond singing songs about New Mexico. The artists will perform at the heated and covered stage and dance floor at the KTAOS Solar Center Tuesday Nov 13.

Details are in the Shows section. Wishing you all Peace and Joy and a return to a true democracy with an actual free market economy. DonCon
