2-20-08 The Three Duos of DonCon
The trio of duos that I've assembled with my Taos compadres all debuted successfully in January and February 2008 in Taos. I spent over a month straight charting and rehearsing tunes with everyone and I'm really happy to finally have it all up and running. These ensembles are designed to be expandable by just adding members.

The Rock Duo: "Jimmy Stadler and Don Conoscenti" (A.K.A. The Jiggy Stamler Experience)… featuring Jimmy Stadler on vocals, piano, guitar, banjo, mandolin and hilarious commentary and DonCon on vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, lap steel and banjo. The focus is on originals and rearranged cover songs. With Jimmy Stadler on board anything goes.

The Country Rock and Blues Duo: "The Lugnuts"… featuring Jim Bradley on vocals, bass and acoustic guitar and DonCon on vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, lap steel and banjo. This duo (two nuts) plays originals and  covers a-la Flying Burritos Brothers and Bluegrass Beatles. It's designed for two-stepping and Taos has some of the finest dancers anywhere. When we perform as a trio (three nuts) the third chair is rotating. Jimmy Stadler and Don Richmond get the first call as they are honorary nuts.

The Jazz and Blues Duo: "Lewis and DonCon" (A.K.A. The HoDads)… featuring Aaron Lewis on woodwinds, vocals and bass and DonCon on vocals and archtop electric guitar. This duo focuses on originals and any cool covers that can be jazzified whether they're by Miles Davis or Cat Stevens. Aaron is an amazing tenor player and this is my training ground as a jazz guitarist and vocalist. As we add members we'll crossover into Salsa, Samba and whatever else rocks our worlds.

My friends the Gehres in Tulsa passed this along to me. I adore Susan Werner and this You Tube clip is golden…and reflects my own choice for the next president of these battered, but still somewhat United States
