Notes To Washington
3-14-06...I Support Senator Feingold's Censure Efforts
I want you to know that I fully support Senator Feingold's resolution to censure President Bush. Regardless of the flaws you may find in the technicalities of his arguments he has almost single handedly stood up for the American people and their rights with the kind of backbone that so many of us feel is sorely missing from Congress and is keeping it from being an effective guardian against the horrifying state of affairs in this Republican led House, Senate and White House.
When this president or any other misleads the American public, Congress and our global partners, and repeatedly breaks the law he should be confronted and there should be oversight and consequences for his actions...not spin and political deal making. Censuring the president is an entirely reasonable first step in condemning these actions and it's shameful to watch other political leaders attacking or distancing themselves from Senator Feingold for doing what you ALL should be doing...standing up for the American people and defending our Constitution and democracy. We are not pleased with the overall performance of our elected leaders and are trying to get you to do something about it. I thank you sincerely for your efforts while on the job and for listening to the voice of the taxpaying people of this country.
sincerely, Don Conoscenti / Chicago IL 3-14-06
